Collage Magazine Mock ups

These are my mock ups for my collage front cover and for my collage contents page.

Photoshop

I used photo shop mainly to create my magazine front cover. I had to use photo shop to develop my front cover for my college magazine to make it look more authentic and natural. Firstly i put on my main image and tweaked it until i thought it was suitable, i then added in the masthead and title and secondary features. The photo shop tools helped me create my front cover and overall it was down to photo shop on letting me use to tools to tweak and develop my magazine cover.
This magazine cover represents my genre hip hop. The main image is Chris Brown, a medium shot is used to show where his hands are places and that his hat is tilted on his head. The image also shows his Jewellery and tattoos these connote the hip hop image that he is new and cool. The anchorage text supports the main image by mentioning the singers name. Puff's and buzzwords are used to show the reader what is inside the magazine. There is a bar code also used just like on every magazine today and there is also the use of a banner at the top of the magazine which will link to a special article inside the magazine.

Collage Magazines

This is the first draft of my Collage Magazine. I have used this medium shot because you can see all three models and they all seem to be engaging with student, which ties in well with the exclusive interview we have.

Analyse 2 Music Front covers

Analyse 2 Contents Pages

This Contents page is from Q magazine. Q magazine uses its house style of the red background of the Q on the top of the contents page. A key image is used  taking up a lot of space of the contents page with the page number in red on the key image. Also a quotation is used to fill the blank spaces on the key image and gives a sneak peak of what is on this page. Also the headlines of the page numbers are all in bold with and with a sentence of copy describing what you will find on this page. There is also a special box called the oasis special which is in the colour gold which makes it seem special and integral to the main story inside the magazine. The key image is very simple the band are wearing simple yet stylish clothes keeping with the genre their band operates in there is also a quotation used to fill up the empty space on the key image. The Register is very simple and straight forward to read and is aimed more at people who like main stream bands. All the headlines of the features are in bold to help catch the readers eye on a particular article.

This Contents page is from NME, NME have used there typical house style of Bold capitals coved in red with a black outlining. A graphic is used to show the reader what weekly issue this magazine is usually by saying the date on. More graphics are used to show the reader what features the magazine has in store for them also graphics will sometimes include gig dates and times also special reviews on current songs or albums. The key image and the headline link up the headline states "The moment that Oasis kicked off their world tour" the image shows two members of Oasis on a live set. Also the "Oasis kicked off their world tour" part of the headline is in Bold black type to catch the readers eye. There is also a buzzword trying to persuade the reader to subscribe for this magazine every month therefore the magazine will have to impress the reader by having interesting features with bands, singers ect.
Down the left side of the page is the headlines and page numbers of all the features inside the magazine and in the bottom right is a graphic helping the reader notice the gig guide used inside the magazine.

Analyse 2 Double page spreads

I am going to be analysing the double page spread features in Q magazine. A typical house style of red is used in this double page spread with the sub heading in bold red righting. Even the use of the drop capital/box is in red. The Key image used doesn't look like it has been professionally taken it looks like it could have been taken by anybody. Also the men on the picture look very casual and look like they have just got out of bed even thought they are probably caked in layers of make up this helps with the male gaze men cannot come across as sex symbols in magazines like this. Men need to come across as effortless to make the male readers feel like they can look like that too. It also needs to steer clear of the homoerotic gestures. The men unlike woman in the magazine gave not been stylised. A graphic and quotation is used on the key image to fill a large gap on the key image and also the quotation links the the interview in the copy. The headline is "The soundtrack of my life which links to the picture because of the number of soundtracks on the floor. In the copy the Magazine have put the Questions in bold and the person who is speaking name in bold so it is easier for the reader to identify who is saying what. All the questions and answers are done in columns to make it seem like it is less of an effort to read it. Also all of the lead paragraph is in bold and the use of colloquialism  is used with words such as "crap". The register is very straight forward and easy to understand. At the bottom of the second page is a timeline for the interview hi-lighting the key things the interviewee had mentioned just to save the reader time.

I am going to be analysing another double page spread featured in Q magazine. They have used a very simplistic style of righting. Unlike the other Q magazine double spread I have recently posted the copy is in larger columns and the register is written in a more formal and creative way. The copy is not an interview it is a story telling the reader of the day to day life of Florence Welch. The key image shows a close up of Florence Welch this photo seems to be professionally taken, and that she had to pose for this, This photo is more then likely been airbrushed. The photograph needs to make Florence look as acceptable to the male gaze as possible. In this double page the drop capital and the lead have been joined to start the copy off. There is also a drop capital starting off the last paragraph rounding off the article.

Semiotics

This magazine would capture the audience because of the bright colours and the artists striking red jacket and matching hat. The artist is in the middle of a pose, as if he does not care, however very confident and cool to fit in to his genre of music, which would be rap/hip hop. Another thing that will attract the audience would be the big gold masthead because again it is a bright colour; set out to capture the attention of people who are interested in the artist and overall magazine and what its genre appeals to be.

The master head is bold and red so that the magazine name stands out and promotes the magazine.

Beth Ditto on this magazine is not very feminine as she is not thew usual shape of females on the magazine also she has hairy armpits which is not very feminine.

The background colour that they have used bright yellow makes the viewer very anxious.

Even though the main image is not very feminine it is on the sexual side with Beth Ditto being fully naked  and a huge red lipstick mark on her naked bum cheek, this connotes a lot of sexual nature by the redness of the lipstick and the fact she is completely naked

I am going to analyse this collage magazine

The target audience for this magazine is for collage students. We know this because the master head is called 'Carmel Up Close' and Carmel is a collage in the North West. The cover includes an anchorage text which says 'Carmel is one of the top ten collages in the country'

The magazine engages the target audience by having a a very colourful background and master head that catches the readers eye and connotes a happy atmosphere of the collage.
The priorities of this magazine is to catch the eye of the readers to persuade the readers that carmel collage is fun educational place to go. The cover is trying to get the message that Carmel Collage is a highly respected in the U.K. Anchorage text saying 'result!' which helps the reader understand the main images connotation.

The image that they have used is a medium shot of a female student at the collage looking like she is getting her results which appear to be good by the denotation in her face. A medium shot is used to show the expression in her face and her body language because she is getting her results

The Mise en Scene on this cover is a girl wearing a very young colourful top also the expression in her face is very excited facial expression as most young girls seem to do a lot. All the other students in the background seem to be wearing very plain bland clothing and she is wearing a very colourful top to make her stand out, to me this connotes that Carmel Collage can make you come out as an individual which makes you stand out from the crowd so you can succeed in life

The cover of the magazine engages with the target audience as it is soft colours of the master head appeals to the audience also the main image of a teenager getting good results what the audience would want and want to be getting from going to Carmel Collage so this is very persuasive
